Fr. James Thyrniang blesses the Foundation stone of the Attard Multipurpose Hall at SHBHSC Mawlai
Shillong July 4: On July 4, 2023, the foundation stone for the Attard Multipurpose Hall at Sacred Heart Boys Higher Secondary School Mawlai was blessed by Father James Thyrniang, the economer of Shillong Province. The ceremony took place at the basketball court where the Attard Multipurpose Hall would be built. The event was attended by the commerce students of class 11, the teachers, the non teaching staff and the contractor and his team. The event commenced with a warm welcome by the principal, Fr. Alistair Marwein. In his welcome speech, he acknowledged the attendees and told them about the importance of the Attard Multipurpose Hall for the students . He highlighted that the purpose of the Multipurpose Hall is to provide a space for various activities, and serve as a hub for the overall development of the students. Immediately after the welcome speech by the principal, Father James, adorned in liturgical vestments, led the blessing ceremony. He began with a prayer, invoking God's blessings upon the construction project and all those involved. This was followed by a scripture reading and his short message where he emphasized that during his years as the economer, he has seen the miracles of God. Though the province lacks money yet believing in the providence of God, it has been able to construct many buildings. He also stated that the Province has resolved to build all the Don Bosco schools, whether they are in Tripura, Mizoram or Meghalaya, according to the needs of the place and according to the standard of the time. Like the Principal, he also highlighted the purpose of the Attard Multipurpose Hall.
After his short message, Father James, proceeded to the foundation stone. A symbolic container of holy water, a rosary and a medal were used to consecrate the stone. Father James offered a prayer for the success and prosperity of the multipurpose hall and all future endeavors associated with it. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the principal, expressing gratitude to the students, the contractor and the teachers. He, in a special way, thanked Father James thyrniang and the Province for the support and for allowing the school to move forward with the project.
