Shillong St. Xavier's School (A Don Bosco Institution) team in Tripura emerged as the champions in the Brass Band Boys' Category of the Eastern Zonal Level Inter-School Band Competition was held in Guwahati on 22nd December 2024. This prestigious event brought together 10 teams from across the Eastern region of India, representing states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura, and Odisha. The competition showcased exceptional talent and skill, with St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, lifting the Champion's Trophy in the Brass Band Boys' Category. St. Xavier's School's team of 29 young boys represented the state of Tripura in the competition. The event featured teams competing in the Brass Band Category, starting with performances by girls’ teams and followed by boys’ teams. The competition saw spirited participation from schools across the region, making it a highly competitive and exciting event. The boys' team from St. Xavier's delivered a spellbinding performance that mesmerized the audience. They played 12 different musical pieces, demonstrating a combination of technical mastery, synchronization, and creativity. Their performance captivated everyone present and set a high standard for the competition. A three-member jury panel, consisting of experts from the BSF, Army, and Navy, evaluated the performances. The judging criteria included: Synchronization, Patriotic songs, Slow march, Uniformity, Dress code, Adherence to the stipulated time The judges carried out their responsibilities with precision and fairness, ensuring that every performance was assessed meticulously. The School team's victory was a testament to their hard work, discipline, and dedication. By defeating formidable teams from other states, they created history and brought immense pride and laurels to the state of Tripura. The success of St. Xavier's team is attributed to the collective efforts of the students, their mentors, and the school administration.
