The ordination of Deacon Shanborlin Khardewsaw to the priesthood was a blessed and historic occasion for the parish of Rambrai. Born in 1992 in the humble village of Sohshynrut, he is the beloved son of Mr. Corlelius Kharjahrin, the head catechist, and Mrs. Margareth Khardewsaw. His journey of faith began at St. John Bosco Secondary School in Rambrai, a place where he first encountered the seeds of his vocation.

Though his family later moved to Nongkroh, which has since become their home, Deacon Shanborlin's commitment to following the Lord’s call remained steadfast. After completing his matriculation in 2012, he entered the Aspirantate at Don Bosco Mount Rongkhon in Tura, a sacred place of formation for young men discerning their calling to become Salesians of Don Bosco. His journey continued with deep faith, and in 2016, he made his first profession as a religious at Sunnyside, Upper Shillong. He then progressed through various stages of formation: his Philosophate in Dimapur (2016-2019), practical training in Nonglakhiat (2019-2021), and theological studies at Sacred Theological College in Mawlai (2021-2024). On July 1, 2024, he was ordained a Deacon at Sacred Heart Theological College in Shillong, marking a significant step in his spiritual journey.

On January 5, 2025, Deacon Shanborlin was ordained to the priesthood at Mount Carmel Parish in Rambrai by Bishop Willbert Marwein, the Bishop of Nongstoin. The ceremony was a profound celebration of God's grace, attended by around 7,000 faithful from across the region, alongside 35 priests who gathered in joyful prayer and worship. This sacred occasion was particularly momentous, as Deacon Shanborlin became the first priest from Rambrai in many years, a source of immense pride and joy for the people of Rambrai and the wider Catholic community.

His ordination is not merely a personal achievement but a testimony of God's providence and grace. From his humble beginnings as an aspirant to his sacred calling as a priest, Deacon Shanborlin’s journey is a shining example of dedication, faith, and the transformative power of God’s love.
