Father Mathew Payyappilly Passes Away Shillong, 15th April: On 15th April, as early as 10:10 am, the Salesians of the Shillong Province received the sad news of the demise of Fr. Mathew Payyappilly SDB. In his letter to the confreres and the members of the Salesian Family, the Provincial writes: Dear Confreres and Friends, With deep sorrow and a great sense of loss, I would like to inform you about the passing away of Fr. Mathew Payyappilly SDB (Fr. Mathachan) a while ago at Nazareth Hospital - Shillong at 10:10 am. May his soul rest in peace. Signed: Fr. Paul O Lyngkot SDB (Provincial of Shillong) Further, the Provincial has communicated that the body of Father Mathew Payyappilly will be taken to Don Bosco Sunnyside, and there will be funeral Masses for the deceased at 6:00 pm on the 15th April and 7:00 am on 16th April at Don Bosco Sunnyside. Then the body will be shifted to Don Bosco Technical School on 16th April, and a requiem Mass will be held at 6:00 pm. The funeral will take place at 10:00 am on 17th April 2024 at Don Bosco Technical School Chapel and will be followed by a Funeral Cortege to the Catholic Cemetery, Laitumkhrah. The Superior of the Province invites all the priests, religious, the faithful, and friends of the Late Father Mathew (Matachan) to join the Salesians of Shillong to bid farewell and to cherish his memory.
