At the beginning of the Mass, Fr. Hubert expressed his deep gratitude to the province for the Salesian life he had lived with zeal in various communities. He sincerely thanked everyone for their friendship, support, and the guidance he had received from his superiors, which helped him fulfill his long-cherished desire to become a missionary.
A native of Rangblang Parish in the South West Khasi Hills, Fr. Hubert demonstrated his missionary spirit through his remarkable ability to master languages and immerse himself in the cultures of the people he served in different mission areas of the province. His decision to embrace missionary life was not due to any dissatisfaction with his work in the province but stemmed from a deep-seated calling that took root during his theological studies. Although he had long desired to serve as a missionary, he faithfully honored his superiors' request to remain in the province while continuing to nurture this vocation.
In his homily, reflecting on the Book of Isaiah, Fr. Hubert emphasized that just as God’s word does not return empty without fulfilling its intended purpose, so too must the Good News be shared so that it may bear fruit.
The day concluded with a short felicitation program and a fellowship meal, marking a heartfelt send-off for Fr. Hubert as he embarked on his new mission.
