Salesian Vocation Camp 2025 – A Journey of Faith and Discernment

Shillong, Meghalaya | April 22–29, 2025: The Salesian Vocation Camp 2025, organized by the Province of Shillong under the leadership of the Vocation Promoter, was held at the Pastoral Centre from April 22 to 29. This enriching eight-day camp welcomed 32 post-matric boys from across Meghalaya, offering them a meaningful opportunity to discern their vocation to the Salesian way of life, inspired by the spirit of St. John Bosco.

The camp was officially inaugurated with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Fr. Jeevan Lakra, Vice Provincial. The following day, Fr. John Zosiama, Provincial of Shillong, celebrated Mass and encouraged the participants to explore the Don Bosco way of life with openness and joy. Daily Masses, morning exercises, Rosary recitations, and evening reflections created a rhythm of prayer and spiritual growth throughout the camp.

A variety of sessions were conducted by experienced Salesians and lay collaborators on topics such as The Life of Don Bosco, Salesian Formation, Religious and Brother Vocations, Youth Ministry, and the Salesian Family. The boys also took part in group activities including skits, music, games, quizzes, and personal interviews. Special highlights included an outing to Shillong Viewpoint, movie screenings, and live telecasts of significant Church events, such as the funeral of Pope Francis.

Guest speakers from other provinces, including Fr. Bikash Mondol (Kolkata) and Fr. George Wungshu (Dimapur), shared their vocational journeys and extended invitations to consider Salesian life in their respective provinces.

The camp concluded on April 29 with a Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. Thomas Pampady, followed by a vote of thanks from the boys and a group photograph. The camp left a lasting impression on all participants, fostering a joyful and family-like atmosphere that truly reflected the Salesian charism.

The organizers express heartfelt gratitude to all Fathers, Brothers, Cooperators, Past-Pupils and lay collaborators who contributed to the camp’s success. Special thanks to the participants, whose faith and enthusiasm made the experience memorable. We continue to pray that many of these young men may respond generously to God’s call to be Salesians of Don Bosco.
