SALEASIAN FAMILY CELEBRATES DONBOSCO’S FEAST AT DBTS
SHILLONG, Jan 31: The 31 of January marked a special event in the Salesian Congregation as a whole, as the feast of Don Bosco was being celebrated worldwide. On this day, the Salesians together with the Salesian family in and around Shillong, assembled together at Don Bosco Technical School Shillong to celebrate the Founder’s Feast. At 9:30am was the arrival and wishing of happy feast to all and sundry. Then it was followed by the explanation of the Strenna “As a yeast in Today’ Human Family” By Father Devasia. It was attended by a big group of the Salesian family and the past pupils. Thereafter, the Holy Eucharist presided over by Father Provincial accompanied by four new priests in the presence of many Salesians and the Salesian family members. In his sermon, Father Provincial stressed on the importance of “Accompaniment” the sacramental presence of the Salesians with the young. “We need to always accompany the young in their journey just like Don Bosco did.” Said the Provincial.
This year, the celebration of Don Bosco’s feast also marked the conclusion of the centenary celebration of the arrival of the Salesians to NEI which was concluded on the month of October 2022. Therefore, after the Holy Mass, there was the lowering down of the centenary flag by Father Richard Majaw, the Vicar general of Shillong Archdiocese together with representatives from various salesian family members.
