Shillong/Agartala, 8th July 2024: His Excellency, Shri Indrasena Reddy Nallu, the Honourable Governor of Tripura, inaugurated the Silver Jubilee Annexe of Don Bosco School Agartala on 8th July 2024 in the presence of school management, staff, students, and honoured guests, at a function held at the lobby of the new edifice. The new block, built as a testimonial to twenty-five years of the school’s existence as a quality institute of learning, will house the students of what the NEP calls, the Foundational Stage - Nursery to Class II. The program commenced with the Chief Guest being welcomed by the NCC cadre and the Scouts contingent of the school alongside the MC members, and the Sisters from the neighbouring Auxilium, Ferrando and Holy Spirit convents. After the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, His Excellency the Governor addressed the gathering and formally declared the annexe inaugurated. The Governor in his address congratulated Fr Sebastian Palatty, the Principal, Fr Dinesh Narzary, the Vice Principal, and the entire management. He praised the educational efforts of Don Bosco schools all over India especially in Tripura, and exhorted the management to continue the great educational service that is being carried out here in the capital city. Fr John Zosiama Sdb, the Provincial Superior of the Don Bosco Province of Shillong, in his message, encouraged the school management to continue the great work of education for the young boys and girls, especially the needy ones. Fr Christopher Warlarpih, the Rector of Don Bosco School then conducted the blessing prayer. It was followed by an address by Fr Sebastian Palatty, the Principal during which he thanked all who were involved in this milestone venture in various capacities. Those present to witness the landmark moment included students of Classes VI to VIII, numbering about 450 dressed in their traditional dress and the staff members clad in their smart uniforms. Interestingly the children of Classes Nursery to II will see their well-lit, colourful classrooms only on the following day. The amenities in the Annexe include classrooms with LED interactive boards, playrooms, a hall, a sick room, a separate room for the support staff, child-friendly restrooms, a lift covering all 4 floors, and a 50-capacity Computer Lab. The construction work was carried out by Ms S. Saha of Eureka Ikonic Group, Agartala. The work of the new block had commenced on May 2nd 2022, Don Bosco School, established in 1997 with 252 students now has on its rolls 2380 boys and girls, from Nursery to Class XII (Science, Humanities and Commerce streams), and a 152-strong staff.
