The newly professed, hail from different parts of the country and have undergone years of formation—some joining as early as Class 8, others after completing higher secondary education. Over the past year, they underwent intense spiritual preparation under the guidance of Novice Master Fr. Paul O Lyngkot and his team at Sunnyside.
Fr. Provincial who presided over the ceremony, emphasized that this profession marks not an end but a beginning. “This is not a celebration of victory but of commitment—the start of a lifelong journey to follow Christ in the footsteps of Don Bosco,” he said.
Acknowledging the crucial role of families in nurturing vocations, Fr. Provincial thanked the parents and relatives present. “Your faith and generosity have borne fruit today. These young men would not be here without your love and example,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation for the formators—priests and brothers—who accompanied the novices through their aspirantate and pre-novitiate years, shaping their spiritual and personal growth.
Drawing inspiration from Don Bosco’s devotion to Mary Help of Christians, the celebrant urged the newly professed to seek her guidance in moments of doubt. “Like Don Bosco, who prayed before Mary Immaculate to discern his vocation, you too must turn to her. Those who pray the Rosary daily will find strength to persevere,” he said.
He reminded them that their vows are not for personal glory but for mission—to serve the young, the poor, and the marginalized in the spirit of Don Bosco. “Your studies and formation are not for degrees but for discipleship. Always stay close to Jesus in the Eucharist and Scripture, for without Him, you can do nothing.”
The newly professed will now proceed to the next stage of formation, which includes philosophical and other studies, as well as practical training in youth ministry. Some may eventually be ordained priests, while others will serve as consecrated brothers.
The ceremony concluded with a festive celebration, where the congregation prayed for the perseverance and joy of these young Salesians as they embark on their vocation.
