REPORT ON “ORATORY DAY CELEBRATION”

Herma,3rd May 2026: On 3rd May 2026, Bosco Home, Herma, organised an Oratory Day for all the oratory children from the neighboring villages, where the pre-novices go for their ministry every Sunday. The main purpose of this grand event was to bring the children together and help them grow through various games, activities, and stage performances.

The event began at 11:00 a.m. with registration and the distribution of badges to the children. Some children, filled with excitement, arrived earlier than the scheduled time. Upon arrival, they were offered refreshments to cool themselves, while others explored different parts of the compound. At 11:30 a.m. sharp, the brothers guided their respective groups to the community hall for the cultural programme.

The cultural programme was conducted by pre-novices Elence George Myrthong and Sorjit Iswarary, the Masters of Ceremony. The two lively MCs opened the programme with a captivating and humorous drama, creating a joyful atmosphere for everyone present. They warmly welcomed the children and the fathers to the grand celebration of Oratory Day and outlined the flow of the programme. The event officially commenced with a prayer led by Pre-novice Simon Halam, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the fathers and representatives of each oratory centre. This was followed by a talk from the Chief Guest, Fr. Suman Kiro, the Vice Rector and Principal of Don Bosco School, Herma. and variety of performances presented by the different centres, including dances, songs and action songs. The programme continued smoothly until 2:00 p.m. However, during the programme, a sudden heavy rain and storm caused concern among the fathers, brothers and the children. Fortunately, by the grace and providence of God, for whom prayers had been offered throughout the week for the success of the event, the rain and strong winds subsided exactly at 2:00 p.m. Immediately after the cultural programme, the Pre-Novices organised chance games for the children. A variety of fun and creative games were arranged by the brothers. The children ran enthusiastically from one game to another, hoping to win tickets. The games were truly exciting, and it was delightful to witness the joy and happiness on the children’s faces. The games concluded at 4:00 p.m., followed by the distribution of prizes to some children who had participated wholeheartedly but were unable to win tickets.

A total of 228 children participated in the celebration, representing eight different oratory centres: Herma, Rangmala A, Rangmala B, Bastoli, Diarathol, Ramnagar, Morgang, and Mandapkela.

The Oratory Day celebration concluded with refreshments and a photo session. At 4:30 p.m., the children departed for their respective homes, expressing their heartfelt gratitude to the fathers and brothers for the wonderful day they experienced. It was truly a memorable occasion, filled with laughter, joy, happiness, and blessings from Almighty God.
