INS Provincial Community Day & Jubilee of Confreres 2022

Shillong 16th May: The Provincial Community Day cum Celebration of the Jubilee of Confreres 2022 was held on 14th May 2022 at Divine Saviour Parish, Nongthymmai. A number of Salesians, Aspirants, Pre-Novices, members of Salesian family, and family members of the Jubilarians attended the function. Father Mukt Tirkey celebrated the Holy Eucharist, concelebrated by other jubilarians and by 50 other priests. Father John Zosiama, the Vice Provincial, welcomed the gathering and introduced the occasion as a moment of family coming together to pray for the province and to felicitate and pray for the Jubilarians: Father Jose Varickasseril & Father Jose Chunkapura (Golden Jubilee of Religious Profession); Father Mukt Kumar Tirkey (Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination); and Father Suman Kumar Kiro, Father Alphonse Rongrin, Father Henry Warbah and Salesian Brother Solomon Swer (Silver Jubilee of Religious Profession). In the Homily, Father Jose Chunkapura reminded the assembly that Jubilee is a time to remind ourselves that the love of God is better than life.

Joint Fellowship cum Recollection for Catholic Youth

Shillong 28 March: A Joint Fellowship cum Recollection for Catholic Youth of Lawngtlai, Siaha & Bualpui NG was held at Bualpui from 26-27 March 2022 under the leadership of Father Dominic Ralte SDB. Speaking to the Don Bosco Media Network, Father Ralte said 'This is the first of its kind that many youth from the various region of Mizoram came together. It was a faith enriching experience to see the youth overcame all odds to be available for this fellowship and recollection'. The animator and leader of the meet, Father Ralte also hope that in the future many more program for the youth of Mizoram region will be organised.

There was much discussion about the statue, mentioned above and which is now preserved as a precious souvenir. Up to the arrival of the Salesians it had been venerated as “Queen of Apostles” but it was without doubt an image of Mary the Helper, just like the images to be found in Salesian Houses. THE JOURNEY TO THE PROMISED LAND – NORTH EAST INDIA

On 22nd December they were in Marseilles and the same evening they stepped aboard the Kaiser-i-Hind, a P. and O. steamer of 11,000 tons. The night was calm and the sky spangled with stars. Helped by an Irish Carmelite who spoke French, the Salesians prepared for Christmas Holy Mass in the second-class dining-room, with the kind permission of the captain. The Carmelite sang the Holy Mass, the Salesians sang Missa de Angelis, Fr. Louis Mathias accompanied them on the piano, and a Maltese gentleman played the violin.  Read More
