DBTS, Shillong , 1st May 2026: The Workers’ Day celebration, marking the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, was conducted with great enthusiasm and reverence on 1st May 2026 in the chapel. The event highlighted the dignity of labour and paid tribute to all workers and staff members of the institution.
The program began with the Holy Mass at 9:00 AM, setting a spiritual tone for the celebration. After the Mass, the formal program commenced with a welcome speech by Fr. Shining Dkhar, Principal, who emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, and the role of St. Joseph as a model worker. This was followed by a soulful prayer song by the Carpentry Department, invoking blessings for all present.
A variety of cultural performances added vibrancy to the celebration. The Jaintia Dance by the Beautician Department, Bihu Dance by the Electrical Department, and Khasi Dance by the DTP Department beautifully showcased the rich cultural heritage of the region. Musical performances, including songs by the MMV Department, Gregory Dkhar, and staff members, further enriched the program.
A significant highlight of the event was the felicitation of staff members, conducted by Fr. Donbor, acknowledging their dedication and contributions. The Prize Distribution ceremony for outdoor games recognized the achievements of students and departments, encouraging sportsmanship and participation.
Additional performances such as Bollywood moves by the Stenography Department, Phawar by the Welder Department, and Manipuri dance by students kept the audience engaged and entertained throughout.
The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Br. Sniawshngaiñ Papang (Vice Principal), expressing gratitude to all organizers, participants, and attendees for making the celebration a success.
The event ended with a community lunch at 12:00 PM, followed by a housie game at 1:00 PM for workers and staff, fostering unity and joy among all members.
Overall, the Workers’ Day celebration was a meaningful and joyful occasion that honoured the spirit of labour, unity, and gratitude, inspired by the life and example of St. Joseph.
