Mawkyndeng, 21st July 20206: The Scout and Guide Camp was successfully organised at the Rural Resources Training Centre (RRTC), Umran, from 16th to 18th July 2026. Students from Khliehriat Higher Secondary School, and St. Dominic Higher Secondary School, Mawkyndeng, actively participated in this three-day programme.
The Chief of the Camp was Fr. Prabir Minj, with Brother Vijay Vishal Tigga and Brother Malcolm Nongsiej serving as Scout Masters and Miss Satisfy Sten as the Guide Captain. A total of 92 students attended the camp, including 54 students from St. Joseph Higher Secondary School and 38 students from St. Dominic Higher Secondary School. The camp was supported by teachers and staff. Miss Hazel Sariang and Sir Maidao Dkhar from St. Dominic, along with Miss Aiban, Miss Rimaniung, and Sir Lumlang from Khliehriat, helped maintain discipline and guided the students. Five staff members also assisted in cooking and attending to the needs of the participants.
On 16th July, the camp began with an address by Fr. Raphael Tham, Parish Priest of Mawkyndeng, who explained the importance and objectives of the Scout and Guide Movement. Fr. Anugrah Kerketta, Deputy Director of RRTC, explained the rules and regulations of the centre. The day concluded with the opening campfire inaugurated by Fr. Prabir Minj.
On 17th July, the day started with flag hoisting according to Scout traditions. The participants took part in hiking, treasure hunt, and Arabian Flag activities. In the evening, Fr. Prabir Minj conducted a session on first aid and different Scout and Guide flags for St. Dominic students.
On 18th July, Fr. Kenny Pakma, Director of RRTC, addressed the participants and explained the importance of the centre. An inspection and investiture ceremony followed, where 14 Scouts and 24 Guides from St. Dominic, along with six patrol leaders from St. Joseph, were formally invested. The camp ended with the lowering of the flag ceremony.
