Herma, 18th July 2026: The Poem Recitation Competition for the Pre-Novices of Bosco Home, Herma was successfully organised on 18th July 2026 with the aim of fostering self-confidence, improving public speaking skills, and nurturing the art of expressive poem recitation among the brothers.
The programme commenced with a meaningful prayer led by the Missionary Sodality, invoking God’s blessings upon all the participants and the organisers. This was followed by a clear explanation of the rules, judging criteria, and guidelines by Bro. Mark Shanbor Thyrniang, the Assistant, who encouraged the participants to recite with confidence, clarity, and expression. The competition then began with great enthusiasm. A total of 22 Pre-Novices participated, each presenting a poem with remarkable dedication and creativity.
The competition was evaluated by two esteemed judges: Fr. Glorius Syiemlieh, the Rector, and Bro. Khrawburom Wanñiang. They carefully assessed each participant based on pronunciation, expression, confidence, clarity, memorisation, and overall presentation. And the Winners was carried by Pre Novices Jefferson in the 1st position, Christbert in the 2nd position and Peter Paul and Steffphyrnai in the 3rd position.
The event proved to be a memorable and enriching experience for everyone present. It not only provided a healthy platform for showcasing talent but also helped the brothers overcome stage fear, strengthen their communication skills, and develop the art of effective poem recitation. The Poem Recitation Competition concluded on a joyful note, leaving the participants motivated to continue improving their literary appreciation, public speaking abilities, and confidence in expressing themselves before an audience.
