Shillong, 11 July 2026: A spiritual retreat was organized for the boys of Savio Juniorate, Mawlai, Shillong, from the evening of 8 July 2026 to 11 July 2026. The retreat was preached by Rev. Fr. Miceal Khongngain, Parish Priest of Lum Sinai Parish, Umden.
The retreat became a meaningful period of prayer, reflection, spiritual renewal, and personal transformation for the boys. Through his inspiring conferences and spiritual reflections, Rev. Fr. Miceal guided the boys to deepen their relationship with God, reflect on their Christian identity, and become more aware of their vocation and mission in life.
During the days of the retreat, Fr. Miceal reflected on several important themes that helped the boys grow in faith and understand their call as young Christians and future members of the Church. His reflections on vocation encouraged them to remain attentive to God’s voice and to discover the purpose and mission that God has entrusted to each one of them.
The sessions on the lives of the Saints inspired the boys to pursue holiness by following the examples of men and women who faithfully dedicated their lives to God. Through the teachings on the Catholic faith, they were strengthened in their understanding of their identity as followers of Christ and were encouraged to live their faith with greater commitment and conviction.
The retreat also highlighted the importance of devotion to Mother Mary. The boys were invited to deepen their love and trust in the Blessed Virgin Mary and to seek her guidance and protection in their journey of faith.
Reflecting on the reality of temptation, Fr. Miceal helped the boys recognize the various challenges and distractions they encounter in their daily lives. He encouraged them to remain firm in faith, make wise choices, and allow God’s grace to guide their decisions.
The sessions on the Sacrament of Reconciliation reminded the boys of God’s endless mercy and the importance of repentance, forgiveness, and conversion. They were encouraged to approach the sacrament with sincerity and experience the healing and renewal that come from God’s forgiveness.
The reflections on the Holy Eucharist helped the boys appreciate the great gift of Christ’s presence among His people. They were reminded that Jesus continues to nourish and strengthen the faithful through the Eucharist and that it is the source of Christian life and spiritual growth.
Along with these themes, Fr. Miceal also shared several reflections based on passages from the Holy Bible. These biblical reflections helped the boys understand God’s Word more deeply and encouraged them to apply its teachings in their daily lives. The Scripture-based reflections became an important part of the retreat, inspiring the boys to listen to God’s voice and allow His Word to guide their journey.
The spiritual retreat concluded on 11 July 2026 with the celebration of the Holy Mass, bringing together the prayers, reflections, and experiences of the previous days. The celebration became an opportunity for the boys to give thanks to God and renew their commitment to living their Christian and Salesian vocation with greater faithfulness.
The boys expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to spend these days in prayer, silence, and reflection. The retreat was a grace-filled and enriching experience that helped them grow spiritually, strengthen their relationship with God, and become more aware of their responsibility to live as good Christians and upright citizens.
Through this spiritual journey, the boys of Savio Juniorate were encouraged to continue walking with Christ and to respond generously to God’s call in their lives.
