Umden, 23 August 2026: On 22 and 23 August 2026, the Parish of Lum Sinai, Umden, organized a two-day seminar for young boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 19 under the theme “Rooted in Christ and in Society.” The seminar was animated under the guidance of Sister. Suktheimon Madur, VSDB, along with other VSDB Sisters and the Youngsters of Jesus Christ Group of the parish, under the leadership of Father. Michael Khongngaiñ, the Parish Priest.
Around 500 boys and girls participated in the seminar, including youngsters from the parish hostel.
One of the resource persons was Sister. Mabel Dhar, VSDB, who spoke on Healthy Adolescence, Child Marriage, and Substance Addiction. Another important session was on social media, which was conducted by police personnel from Nongpoh Police Station.
The talks were carefully chosen to help the young boys and girls understand various issues related to their daily lives and the challenges they face in today’s society. The sessions were divided into different themes and were conducted by resource persons from various places.
The programme on 22 August began with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by various activities and talks. The day concluded with Eucharistic Adoration, the Rosary, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. At 8:00 p.m., a small get-together was organized for the delegates who were staying in the parish. The gathering concluded with night prayer and a night talk given by Father. Michael Khongngaiñ, the Parish Priest.
On Sunday, 23 August, there was one talk given by Deacon Albinus Rynshon on the Seven Sacraments. This was followed by the Holy Mass at 12:00pm, which was presided over by Father. Michael Khongngaiñ, the Parish Priest. At 2:30 p.m., the Eucharistic Adoration was held by Father Hampyrwa Tyngkan sdb, followed by a short programme, the vote of thanks, and a meaningful prayer and blessing.
The seminar was successfully concluded, and many of the young boys and girls expressed their happiness and enthusiasm throughout the programme. The purpose of the seminar was to foster a closer relationship between the youngsters and God, the Church, and society. It also aimed to help them remain free from various vices and destructive influences that can lead young people away from the Church and society.
The programme was well prepared and included meaningful and relevant talks delivered by different resource persons. The seminar provided the young participants with an opportunity to understand themselves better, to encounter God in their everyday lives, and to grow closer to the Church. May the lessons and experiences of this seminar remain in the hearts of all the young boys and girls and inspire them to live as responsible, faithful, and Christ-centred members of the Church and society.
