Shillong, July 2026: The Sacred Heart Theological College (SHTC), Mawlai, joyfully celebrated the 95th birthday of Rev. Fr. Gervasis Kozhuppathadam, SDB, marking a remarkable milestone in the life of a devoted Salesian missionary whose witness has inspired generations.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist at 6:45 p.m., during which the SHTC community joined together in thanking God for the precious gift of Fr. Gervasis’ life, vocation, and decades of faithful service to the Church. The Eucharistic celebration was attended by a large gathering of Salesian Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, friends, and well-wishers, who came to offer their prayers and express their gratitude for his extraordinary life.
Following the Holy Mass, a warm felicitation programme was held in honour of the jubilant. During the celebration, words of appreciation and heartfelt birthday wishes were extended to Fr. Gervasis Kozhuppathadam. In a moving birthday address, tribute was paid to his 75 years of missionary service in Northeast India, highlighting his steadfast commitment to the Gospel, his love for the young, and his humble dedication to the Salesian mission. His life was described as a shining example of faith, perseverance, simplicity, and selfless service.
Many Fathers, Brothers, Sisters, friends, and members of the Salesian family personally greeted Fr. Gervasis, expressing their admiration and gratitude for his inspiring witness. The atmosphere was filled with joy, gratitude, and fraternity as the community celebrated this rare and grace-filled occasion together.
The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal, where all those present shared in the joy of the occasion, strengthening the bonds of communion and celebrating the life of a missionary whose legacy continues to enrich the Church and society.
As Rev. Fr. Gervasis celebrates his 95th birthday, the entire community of Sacred Heart Theological College joins in thanking God for his inspiring life and prays that the Lord may continue to bless him with good health, peace, and happiness. May Mary Help of Christians and St. John Bosco continue to watch over him and grant him many more years of grace and blessings.
