NEW SCHOLASTIC YEAR 2026 INAUGURATED AT DON BOSCO TECHNICAL SCHOOL, SHILLONG

Shillong, 7th August 2026: The Inauguration of the New Scholastic Year 2026 for the ITI, FVT and TATA LEAP courses was held on 7th August 2026 at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong. The programme marked the beginning of a new academic and training year, welcoming students to a renewed journey of learning, skill development, discipline and career preparation. The programme was anchored by Sir Donbok and attended by the management, staff and students, parents and Guardians, along with the distinguished Chief Guest, Smti. Audrey Mary Khonglam, SDO, East Khasi Hills District.

The programme commenced with the Bible Reading and Prayer, led by Br. Sniawshngain Papang, Vice Principal, placing the new scholastic year under the guidance and blessings of God. This was followed by the Lighting of the Lamp, symbolizing the light of knowledge, wisdom and hope, by the Chief Guest along with Fr. Saji Stephen, Fr. Shining Dkhar, Fr. Donbor Jyrwa and Sir Mario.

The Chief Guest was then felicitated, followed by the Welcome Speech by Fr. Shining Dkhar, Principal, who warmly welcomed everyone and expressed his hopes for a fruitful and successful academic year. The MMV Department presented a prayer song, followed by an inspiring address by Fr. Saji Stephen, Rector, who encouraged the students to approach the new year with discipline, dedication and a positive spirit.

The Beautician Department presented a lively dance, after which Smti. Audrey Mary Khonglam, SDO, East Khasi Hills District, addressed the gathering. Her message encouraged the students to value education and skill development and to become responsible and productive citizens. A beautiful Khasi song was presented by the Carpentry and Graphic Design & Animation Departments, celebrating the students’ cultural talents.

The class registers were then handed over to the respective Class Teachers, symbolizing the formal commencement of academic responsibilities. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Br. Sniawshngain Papang, Vice Principal, followed by the necessary instructions from Fr. Shining Dkhar, Principal.

The inauguration served as a meaningful beginning to Scholastic Year 2026, inspiring the entire DBTS community to move forward with faith, discipline, excellence and a strong commitment to learning and skill development.
