Shillong, October 4, 2026: A one-day medical camp organized by the Caring Ministry of Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, Shillong, in collaboration with the Salesian Co-operators, provided medical consultation and follow-up care to 518 children on Sunday, October 4.
The medical camp was held from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the Caring Ministry and was led by Fr. Joseph Anikuzhikattil Luka, SDB.
The camp primarily served children between 1 and 12 years of age, with parents bringing their children for medical reviews, consultations and new registrations. A total of 339 review cases and 179 new registrations were attended to during the day.
The camp was supported by a dedicated medical and volunteer team comprising six doctors, two nurses, 28 volunteers from the Salesian Co-operators, Mawlai Centre, along with members of the Caring Ministry team of Sacred Heart Theological College.
The favourable weather also contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme, with the bright and pleasant day encouraging a good turnout of children and their parents.
The medical camp reflected the Church’s continuing commitment to caring for the health and well-being of children and families, particularly those who benefit from accessible medical services and compassionate care.
The organizers expressed their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and volunteers for their dedicated service, as well as to the Caring Ministry team, Salesian Co-operators, parents and children for their cooperation, participation and trust.
The programme was coordinated under the leadership of Fr. Joseph Anikuzhikattil Luka, SDB, whose efforts, together with the collaborating teams, helped make the medical camp a meaningful service initiative for the local community.
