Shillong, May 17, 2026: In a solemn and grace-filled celebration held at Savio Juniorate, Mawlai, four Salesian Clerics from three provinces made their Perpetual Profession on Sunday, committing themselves fully to God through the Congregation of the Salesians of Don Bosco in the spirit of St. John Bosco.
The Holy Eucharist commenced at 7:00 a.m. with Fr. John Zosiama SDB, Provincial of the Shillong Province, presiding over the Mass and officially receiving the perpetual vows of the candidates.
The Clerics who professed the vows of obedience, poverty, and chastity were Cl. Rajib Pasleiñ SDB and Cl. Soniverius Sad SDB from the Shillong Province, Cl. Phikow Paul Leriina SDB from the Dimapur Province, and Cl. Sudip Dominic Mondol SDB from the Kolkata Province.
The celebration witnessed the participation of parents, guardians, relatives, friends, members of the Salesian Family, confreres, and aspirants, all gathered to share in this important milestone in the lives of the newly professed.
In his homily, Fr. John Zosiama expressed gratitude to the Brothers for their generous response to God’s call. He acknowledged their years of formation and appreciated the support and witness of their families. Congratulating them on their “perpetual yes” to the Lord, he encouraged them to remain faithful, joyful, and deeply rooted in the charism of Don Bosco by becoming signs and bearers of God’s love to the young, especially the poor and marginalized.
One of the most moving moments of the liturgy was the act of prostration by the Brothers before the altar, symbolizing their total surrender and self-offering to God in service of the young.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, a short felicitation programme was organized in honour of the newly professed. The programme featured a festive band performance, congratulatory songs by the Aspirants and confreres, a ceremonial cake-cutting, and a fellowship breakfast shared in the spirit of Salesian fraternity.
The day concluded in an atmosphere of prayer, joy, and thanksgiving as members from the Shillong, Dimapur, and Kolkata Provinces rejoiced together in the lifelong commitment of the four Brothers to God and to the mission of Don Bosco.
