Shillong, 27 June 2026: As part of the Sacred Heart Month Celebration 2026, the Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS), Shillong, community undertook a faith-filled pilgrimage to the Sacred Heart Shrine, Mawlai, on 27 June 2026. The pilgrimage brought together the entire DBTS community, including three priests, six brothers, and over 150 hostel students, in a spirit of prayer, thanksgiving, and devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The pilgrimage commenced at 1:00 p.m. from the DBTS basketball ground. Before the pilgrims began their journey, the Rector addressed the gathering, reminding everyone of the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage and encouraging them to offer their prayers, sacrifices, and intentions as they walked together in faith. Filled with enthusiasm and devotion, the pilgrims then began their journey on foot towards the Sacred Heart Shrine at Mawlai.
The pilgrims arrived at the shrine at approximately 2:30 p.m., where the spiritual programme began with the Divine Mercy Chaplet, followed by half an hour of Eucharistic Adoration, prayerfully animated by the brothers. The atmosphere of silence, reflection, and worship helped everyone deepen their encounter with the Lord.
The celebration reached its climax with the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Felic Dkhar, Vice Rector. The homily was delivered by the Rector, who invited everyone to contemplate the boundless love and mercy flowing from the Sacred Heart of Jesus and encouraged the faithful to become living witnesses of Christ’s compassion through lives of service, forgiveness, and charity. The Eucharistic celebration was concelebrated by Fr. Shining Dkhar, Counsellor, together with the other priests.
The pilgrimage concluded with heartfelt thanksgiving and a renewed commitment to live according to the values of the Gospel. More than a physical journey, the pilgrimage became a profound spiritual experience, strengthening the faith and unity of the DBTS community while inspiring everyone to grow closer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to carry His love into their daily lives.
