Shillong August 2026:
The animation programme for Teachers and Motivation Programme for Students were held in Don Bosco School, Thenzawl on 3rd and 4th August 2026. Rev. Fr George Maliekal SDB and Rev. Fr Arul Kumar Sebastian SDB were the resource persons.
On the evening of 2nd August 2026, the resource persons arrived in Thenzawl from Lawngtlai. They were accorded with a warm welcome by the boarding boys of DBS, Thenzawl. It was the maiden visit for both the Fathers after the school is given a new facelift and were so much enthralled by the huge and beautiful building and campus.
The school community gave a warm welcome to the resource persons on 3rd August 2026, during the morning assembly at 08:45 am. Rev. Fr Robert Faustin SDB, Vice Principal, gave a befitting and warm welcome to them. The enchanting Mizo traditional dance performed by the Red House students looked like a million bucks for the Fathers. Rev. Fr George Maliekal SDB, in his address, recalled his first visit to Thenzawl in 2012, as the first Provincial of Shillong Province (INS). He gave hats off to the pioneers like Rev. Fr Anthony Valuran SDB, Rev. Fr Bosco Minj SDB, Rev. Bro. VS Mathew SDB and others. At the end of his address, he invited the students “to trust in God and do their best”.
The animation sessions for the teachers and motivation programme for the students began at 09:30 am. On the first day (3rd August 2026), Rev. Fr George Maliekal SDB animated the teachers on the topic “How to be an effective teacher” and also dealt with other related practical topics. The NEP 2024 was explained and practical guidelines to implement the policy in the school was also made known to the teachers. Rev. Fr Arul Kumar Sebastian SDB animated the motivation programme for Classes 8, 9 and 10 simultaneously. Rev. Fr Robert Faustin SDB and Sir Finbaar Buckley also animated motivation programme for Classes 6 and 7 on the first day.
The second day of animation sessions for the teachers, on 4th August 2026, was animated by Rev. Fr Arul Kumar Sebastian SDB. He dealt on the Salesian Preventive System and Salesian Pedagogy. In the afternoon sessions, the teachers were given group activities, sharing and discussions.
The two-day animation programme was so enlightening for the teachers. It is hoped that it can boost up their vocation as teachers, guardians, motivators and formators for their wards.
The school management, staff and students are deeply indebted to Rev. Fr George Maliekal SDB and Rev. Fr Arul Kumar Sebastian SDB for their valuable and rich input sessions to the teachers and students.
