A New Salesian Cooperators Centre Established at Sonapahar Parish

Shillong 18th August 2026: A new centre of the Association of Salesian Cooperators was formally established at Sonapahar Parish on 16 August 2026, marking a significant milestone in the growth of the Salesian Family and its mission of accompanying young people and families.

The occasion was celebrated with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. John Zosiama, SDB, Salesian Provincial of the Shillong Province. A large gathering of Salesian Cooperators, parishioners, members of the Salesian Family and the faithful participated in the celebration with joy and gratitude.

A particularly significant moment of the celebration was the Promise of 24 new Salesian Cooperators, who formally committed themselves to living and promoting the Salesian spirit in their daily lives and in service to the Church and society.

The establishment of the new centre is more than the creation of another pastoral group. It is a concrete expression of Don Bosco’s vision of a broad Salesian Family united in the mission of bringing young people closer to God, accompanying them in their growth and helping them become good Christians and responsible citizens.

As Salesian Cooperators, the new members are called to carry the spirit of Don Bosco into their families, workplaces, communities and society, becoming witnesses of faith, hope and love wherever they are.

The new centre at Sonapahar is therefore a new sign of hope and a new commitment to the Salesian mission. Heartfelt congratulations and prayers go to the 24 new Cooperators. May God bless them abundantly and grant them the courage, joy and fidelity to live their vocation generously in the spirit of Don Bosco, for the young and especially for those most in need.
