Pathaliaghat, 20 July 2026: St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Tripura through its Inter-House Cultural Group Dance Competition held on 20th July 2026. The event brought together the four houses—Bosco, Gandhi, Nehru, and Teresa—in a colourful display of traditional dance, music, and artistic excellence. Each house presented a team of 28 boys and girls who performed one of Tripura’s traditional dances—Murasing, Garia, Lebang, and Mamita—showcasing the customs, festivals, and cultural traditions of the tribal communities. Their vibrant costumes, authentic folk music, graceful choreography, and synchronized performances captivated the audience and reflected months of dedicated practice.
The performances were judged by Ms. Martha, Ms. Namita, Ms. Debika, Ms. Roseline, and Ms. Riya on the basis of choreography, synchronization, costume, cultural authenticity, expression, and overall presentation. The programme was confidently compered by Ms. Maryeona Debbarma of Class XI. Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Babu Stephen, Principal, appreciated the efforts of the students, teachers, and house captains, emphasizing the importance of preserving the rich cultural heritage of our nation through such programmes. He also thanked the judges and all those who contributed to the success of the event.
Among the four houses, Nehru House emerged as the Champion with an outstanding presentation of the Murasing Dance, while Bosco House secured the Second Prize for the Garia Dance, and Teresa House won the Third Prize with the Lebang Dance. Gandhi House presented the Mamita Dance and secured the fourth position. The winners were awarded cash prizes in recognition of their excellent performances. The competition proved to be a memorable celebration of teamwork, discipline, cultural pride, and the spirit of unity in diversity.
