Umden, 26 July 2026: On 25 and 26 July 2026, Lum Sinai Umden Parish organized a two-day retreat for all the altar servers of the parish at Lum Sinai Umden Parish Church. The retreat was fully animated by Bro. Venantius
Simply, SDB, under the theme, “Speak, Lord, your servant is listening” (1 Sam 3:10).The programme began with registration, followed by general instructions and an introduction to the importance of being a good altar server in the Church. Bro. Venantius emphasized that an altar server should be an
example to others through his or her way of life, prayer, and service.
During the two days of the retreat, various activities and sessions were conducted on different themes, such as the meaning of vocation, the importance of prayer in the life of an altar server, the life of Jesus as a servant, and the challenges faced by young people in today’s world.
The retreat was organized with the aim of bringing all the young boys and girls closer to God through their humble acts of service during Holy Mass and other prayer services, such as Adoration and processions. It also sought to help them understand the importance of serving the Lord and
to encourage them to consider a vocation to religious or priestly life. The Sacrament of Reconciliation was also made available to all the participants.
The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. Michael Khongngain, SDB, the Parish Priest of Lum Sinai Umden Parish, along with other priests of the parish. This was followed by Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. Around 150 altar servers, both boys and girls from different villages of the parish, actively participated in the retreat with great enthusiasm and dedication. The retreat was a great success and provided the participants with a meaningful spiritual experience of God’s love and mercy. It also helped them to renew their commitment to serving the Lord and the Church
with greater love, faith, and dedication.
