Pathaliaghat, 10th August 2026: St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, brought immense pride and glory to the school by emerging as the Champions of the Don Bosco Inter-School Football Knockout Tournament for Boys, organized by Don Bosco School, Agartala. The tournament featured eight boys’ football teams representing different Don Bosco Schools of Tripura and witnessed intense competition and sporting spirit.
St. Xavier’s began their campaign with an impressive 4–0 victory over Don Bosco School, Baijalbari, earning a place in the semi-finals. They faced the host team, Don Bosco School, Agartala, in a closely contested semi-final and secured victory through a penalty shootout to enter the final.
The final against Don Bosco School, Nabarsardar, was a thrilling encounter. After a fiercely fought match ended in a 1–1 draw, the champions were decided through a penalty shootout. With remarkable composure and determination, St. Xavier’s emerged victorious, lifting the coveted Champions Trophy amidst loud cheers and celebrations.
Adding further glory to the achievement, Handsome Jamatia was awarded the Best Goalkeeper, while John Jamatia was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament. Fr. Surjit Tigga presented the individual awards, while Bro. Alexius Condpan of Baijalbari handed over the Champions Trophy to the victorious team.
The school congratulates all the players for their outstanding teamwork, discipline and perseverance. Special appreciation goes to Coach Sir Animesh Debbarma and Manager Sir Dosorot Kaipeng for their dedicated guidance and encouragement. The remarkable victory has added another glorious chapter to the sporting achievements of St. Xavier’s Hr. Sec. School, Pathaliaghat.
