Rambrai, July 12: Rambrai Parish joyfully celebrated Catechism Day 2026 on Saturday, 12 July, bringing together around 200 Sunday School children from the various blocks of the parish for a day centred on faith formation, biblical learning, Christian fellowship, and joyful celebration.
The celebration began with the Holy Eucharist at 7:00 a.m., presided over by Fr. Anthony Wahlang, Assistant Parish Priest. In his homily, Fr. Anthony reminded the children that the Holy Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life. He encouraged them to remain firmly rooted in Jesus Christ through prayer, Sacred Scripture, and the teachings of the Church, urging them to become young disciples who witness to Christ through love, honesty, compassion, and service.
Following the Mass, the children gathered at Vanni Memorial Hall at 9:00 a.m. for the formal programme, which opened with a prayer and blessing led by the Parish Priest, Fr. Gilbert Bhoi. In his address, Fr. Gilbert emphasised the vital role of Sunday School in nurturing children in the Catholic faith. He encouraged them to develop a deep love for God’s Word, participate faithfully in the sacraments, and become living witnesses of Christ in their families, schools, and communities.
The day’s activities reflected the Church’s mission of catechesis by helping children grow in faith while fostering creativity, confidence, and friendship. Participants enthusiastically took part in a variety of Bible-based competitions, including Bible Fancy Dress, Bible Recitation, Puzzle Game, Blindfold Drawing, and Drawing Competition. Recreational games such as Hit the Tin, In and Out, Bursting the Balloons, Eating the Biscuits, Filling Water, and Tunnel Ball added excitement to the celebration while promoting teamwork, discipline, and mutual cooperation. The children also joyfully participated in action songs that filled the gathering with praise and enthusiasm.
The afternoon cultural programme showcased the talents of the children through phawar, dances, songs, and mono acts presented by the different parish blocks. The performances highlighted the importance of using God-given gifts to glorify Him while strengthening unity within the parish community.
The celebration concluded with a prayer of thanksgiving, followed by a fellowship meal at around 4:00 p.m. The event inspired the children to continue growing in their faith, carrying forward the lessons of catechesis and the spirit of Christian fellowship.
The parish expressed sincere gratitude to all the priests, brothers, sisters, Sunday School teachers, volunteers, parents, and benefactors whose generous support and dedicated service contributed to the success of Catechism Day 2026. More than a festive gathering, the celebration reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to catechesis as a vital ministry that forms young believers to know Christ, love His Word, and live the Gospel with faith, hope, and conviction.
