Herma, 11th July 2026: In its continuous effort to foster the integral formation of the Pre-Novices, the community of Bosco Home Herma organised a Sketching Competition on 11th July 2026. The competition was conceived not merely as an artistic contest but as a formative activity aimed at broadening the creative minds of the brothers, encouraging them to transform their ideas and imagination into meaningful artistic expressions.
The competition commenced at 5:30 pm in the Shudy Hall. The participants were encouraged to make full use of their imagination and originality, recognising that every talent is a gift from God to be developed and placed at the service of others. In the Salesian spirit of education, the competition sought to inspire the Pre-Novices to think creatively, appreciate beauty, and express themselves confidently through art. The 22 Pre-Novices were asked to sketches for a Welcome Notice Board and a Thank You Notice Board. To ensure originality and stimulate creative thinking, each participant was provided with only an A4 sheet of paper and a pencil. No ready-made pictures, sample designs, or reference materials were supplied. Instead, the participants were encouraged to rely solely on their imagination, artistic ability, and personal creativity in producing their sketches. The response from the brothers was remarkable. Every participant took part wholeheartedly, demonstrating enthusiasm, patience, and dedication throughout the competition.
The competition concluded successfully at 6:20 p.m., marking the end of an enriching and inspiring experience for the entire community. More than identifying artistic talent, the programme encouraged the Pre-Novices to discover and develop their God-given gifts through disciplined effort and creative expression. The Sketching Competition proved to be a fruitful initiative, reminding the Pre-Novices that creativity flourishes when imagination is combined with perseverance and dedication.
