Shillong, January 2, 2026: The Winter Camp 2026 at Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS), Shillong, was formally inaugurated on January 2 in a solemn and prayerful atmosphere. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of His Grace Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, Archbishop of Shillong.
The programme was attended by Fr Felix Dkhar, Vice Rector; Fr Shiningstar Dkhar, Principal of Don Bosco Technical School; Fr Donbor Jyrwa, Manager; Fr P. V. Joseph; along with the brothers and trainees of the institute.
The ceremony began with a hymn and prayer, invoking God’s blessings upon the Winter Camp and its participants. This was followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolising the dispelling of darkness and the spread of knowledge, wisdom, and hope.
Fr Shiningstar Dkhar delivered the welcome address, in which he outlined the objectives of the Winter Camp and encouraged the trainees to make the best use of the training opportunities and facilities provided by the institution. A welcome song presented by the brothers added colour and warmth to the occasion.
The highlight of the programme was the address by Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh. In his message, he urged the trainees to pursue their learning with sincerity and dedication. He stressed the importance of discipline and hard work in shaping a successful future and commended Don Bosco Technical School for its commitment to empowering youth through free technical education and skill development.
Following the inaugural programme, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh celebrated the Inaugural Holy Mass, invoking God’s blessings upon the trainees, instructors, and the entire Winter Camp, thereby adding a deep spiritual dimension to the commencement of the camp.
During Winter Camp 2026, Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, is offering a range of skill-oriented training programmes aimed at equipping young people with practical and employable skills. The courses include fast food preparation, bakery and confectionery, basic electrical and home appliances, basic make-up, beauty and wellness, communication skills and personality development, spoken English, basic computer skills, data entry operator (DEO), and desktop publishing (DTP).
The Winter Camp 2026 will conclude on January 20, 2026, after which certificates of completion will be awarded to all successful participants. The camp seeks not only to impart technical skills but also to promote discipline, values, and holistic development among the youth.
