“United in Mission: Annual Principals’ Meet of Don Bosco Schools, Shillong Province 2026”

Shillong 16th February 2026: A three-day Annual School Principals’ Meet of the Don Bosco Group of Schools of the Shillong Province was held from 12th to 14th February 2026 at Don Bosco School Silchar, Assam. Around 30 Principals, along with the Provincial and his Council members, participated in this important gathering. The meeting was coordinated by Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, Delegate for Education and Culture, together with the Education Commission of the Province.

The meeting commenced on the evening of 12th February with the inaugural session led by Fr. John Zoisama, the Provincial of Shillong Province. He presented the Strenna 2026 of the Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard, which set the tone and spiritual direction for the entire meeting. The well-structured and thoughtfully prepared schedule for the three days enabled all participants to take part actively and comfortably. The venue and serene ambience at Don Bosco Silchar were highly conducive, creating a spirit of fraternity and focused reflection.

The second day began with the Holy Eucharist presided over by Fr. John Zoisama. In his homily, he highlighted the importance of coming together as Principals and educators with passion, unity, and love for the young entrusted to our care. The day featured presentations of activities from selected schools across different regions of the province, allowing participants to learn about the good practices implemented in various institutions. The sharing of innovative ideas on administration and standardization enriched the gathering. Group discussions and open-floor interventions made the sessions interactive, informative, and educative.

The presence of the Provincial and his Council members strengthened the spirit of unity and teamwork among the principals. Financial stability and accountability were emphasized by Fr. Genesius Wanniang, the Economer of the Province. Important matters such as documentation, legal concerns, and educational policies were thoroughly discussed.

An animation session conducted by Tata Class Edge focused on effective school leadership. The session boosted the morale of the principals and instilled renewed confidence in their mission as educators. Presentations by various educational technology companies introduced the participants to emerging trends and fast-changing technologies in the educational sector. Group sharing further helped in clarifying concepts and exchanging practical insights. Interventions from the Provincial and Council members continued to inspire and guide the principals.

On the third day, the Holy Eucharist was presided over by Fr. Jeevan Lakra, the Vice-Provincial. During the morning sessions, Fr. Babu Stephen moderated discussions on selected topics such as EPF, School Library management, Fire and Safety measures, CCTV installation, School Canteens and Mid-Day Meals, School ERP systems, and other relevant administrative matters. The principals responded positively and participated actively in the open discussions, sharing experiences and raising pertinent concerns.

The concluding session was once again addressed by Fr. John Zoisama, who thanked all the participants for their active involvement. He touched upon sensitive and significant issues related to the school ministry and summarized the key points of the three-day meeting, clearly expressing his stand on important matters.

The entire meeting was a grand success. The participants returned to their respective institutions enriched with new insights, renewed enthusiasm, and a stronger sense of unity in their shared mission of educating the young in the spirit of Don Bosco. Fr. Hampyrwa proposed the vote of thanks, bringing the fruitful gathering to a meaningful close.
