Pathaliaghat,29th November 2025: The Class XII students of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat successfully completed a six-day Study Tour to Guwahati and Shillong from 29 November to 4 December 2025. Forty-five students participated in the tour, accompanied by Fr. Babu Stephen and Ms. Ishri Jamatia. The programme offered the students meaningful academic exposure, cultural enrichment, and memorable experiences.
The group departed from Agartala on 29 November and reached Guwahati the following morning. Accommodation was arranged at Don Bosco Provincial House and the CRI House. After settling in, the students visited Fancy Bazar for a marketing session and later enjoyed the Guwahati Ropeway, which provided panoramic views of the city and the Brahmaputra River. A ferry ride across the river further enhanced the day’s experience. Meals at Ananda Hotel ensured comfort and convenience throughout their stay.
On 1 December, the team left Guwahati in the early hours and arrived at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, where they received a warm welcome from the Principal, Fr. Anthony Kharkongor. He offered refreshments and formally greeted the group during the school assembly. Following breakfast, the students embarked on a full-day tour of Shillong, visiting prominent sites including the Cathedral Church, Don Bosco Technical School, Don Bosco Museum, Golflink, Ward’s Lake, and the Smit viewpoint. An evening visit to Laitumkhrah allowed students to experience the locality’s vibrant atmosphere. The day’s smooth coordination was made possible with the support of Bro. Augustine, Bro. Savio, and their dedicated team, including driver Mr. Shashi.
The group set out for a full-day excursion to Sohra on 2 December, covering landmarks such as Nongkalikhai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave, and the Don Bosco Shrine. The scenic landscapes and natural wonders made the Sohra visit a highlight of the tour. Upon returning to Shillong, the students revisited Ward’s Lake and proceeded to Police Bazar for their final round of shopping. The day proved both educational and enjoyable for the participants.
Throughout the tour, the students expressed great enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity to explore Meghalaya’s cultural and natural heritage. Many described the experience as a rare and unforgettable chance to visit Shillong, Sohra, and other significant locations.
