Shillong 28th July 2023: The Novitiate Community of Sunnyside organized the First Seminar on Salesian Brotherhood. The one day Seminar began at 9:00 am. The inauguration was enriched with the Hymn to the Holy Spirit, Prayer, a Video Presentation on the Novices and their themes to be presented. There was also a Welcome Speech and a word of encouragement from the Administrator. Those who were present at the Programme were Fr. V. T Jose (Novice Master), Fr. Prabir Minj (Socius), Fr. Pyndeilang (Administrator), Br. Lambert (Assistant) and the thirty Novices. The Novices in Sodality Wise presented the Seminar. Each novice was assigned a particular topic where he could prepare beforehand and present it. Some of the main themes were: The Term Coadjutor, Meaning of the Vocation of the Salesian Brother, the Status and Specific Roles of the Lay Religious in the Church and the Congregation, Life Sketches of the First Salesian Brothers and those of Our Province like Br. John Colombi, Br. Abraham Antony and late Br. V. S Mathew; the Documents on the Lay Consecrated Life were also dealt both of the present and the past. At the end of the Seminar, the Socius gave a word of appreciation and some guidelines for future improvements. The Novices were very happy for having learned at a greater depth on this Lay Dimension of the Salesian Society. They were also enlightened and inspired to appreciate the Vocation as a gift and call from God. One of the reasons of organizing this Seminar as the First Seminar was to encourage the Novices as they intensify their discernment before they choose the Specific Vocation of the two dimensions of the same Salesian Vocation.
