KA SUR KYNUD SEASON 2 CULMINATES WITH THE FEAST OF DON BOSCO


Shillong, 2nd February: For every Salesian and Salesian institution, the 31st of January is marked with joy and celebration due to the Solemnity of St. John Bosco, its father, and founder. In the East Khasi Hills region of the Shillong Province, the day was marked with various celebrations. At 9:30 in the morning, the festivities began with an explanation of the Strenna 2024, followed by the release of books authored or compiled by Salesians of the Province. At 11:00 am, a concelebrated Holy Mass was offered by Father John Zosiama, the Vice Provincial, and the Provincial Elect, in the presence of several confreres, Salesian Family members, and other invitees at Don Bosco Technical School. At 3:00 pm, the Grand Finale of 'Ka Sur Kynud Season 2' kicked off, with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri Conrad K Sangma, invited as the Chief Guest. He was surrounded by the Vice Provincial, the Economer, several confreres, youths, and the top ten finalists of Ka Sur Kynud - the vocal competition. During the splendid program, the Cilia Memorial Award 2023 was presented to Brother Mebanteilang Lyngdoh for his contribution towards writing, reporting, and filing several news and events that took place in the Province. He received a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of rupees fifteen thousand from the Vice Provincial. Another award, the 'dbmntv Youth Icon Award 2023,' was also presented during the program. The Honorable Chief Minister conferred the award to Miss Dapalei Warjri for her contribution to the youth of the state in the field of fitness and Zumba. She was honored with a trophy, citation, and a cash prize of forty thousand rupees. Finally, at the end of the program, the winner of Ka Sur Kynud Season 2, Ellery Kharkongor, was declared the best singer and awarded 1 Lakh Rupees along with the trophy. Both the Vice Provincial and the Chief Guest praised the efforts made by Don Bosco Media to honor St. John Bosco by concluding the prestigious competition on his Feast Day. In his speech, the Chief Minister thanked the Salesians for the transformation they brought to society. He was overwhelmed to see the progress of the youth in various fields, saying, 'It's an international standard' when commenting on the way the competition was conducted. The Chief Minister outlined three points in his speech. Firstly, he spoke about facing challenges and encouraged the youth to be happy to have the Salesians to guide them through their challenges. Secondly, the Chief Minister urged the young people and the audience to be 'passionate' like the Salesians, stating, 'The Salesians are successful because they are passionate about their ministry.' Finally, the Chief Minister asked the gathering to be a Xerox copy of the Salesians so that society could be transformed.
