LAUNCHING SKILLED FUTURES: INAUGURATION OF FVT TRADES 2026 AT DBTS, SHILLONG
Shillong, 23rd February 2026 :The Inauguration of the FVT (Functional Vocational Training) Courses was held on 23rd February 2026 in a solemn and meaningful ceremony at the institution. The programme marked the official commencement of the new vocational training session aimed at equipping students with practical skills, technical competence, and value-based formation.
The FVT courses offered for the academic session include MMV (Mechanic Motor Vehicle), Electrician & Solar Technician, Welder, Carpentry, and Graphic Operator (FVT). These trades are designed to provide hands-on training and industry-relevant skills to enhance employability and self-reliance among students.
The event began with a Bible Reading by Mark Fairborn Kharkrang, followed by a Prayer led by Evanjalene Kharmih, invoking God’s blessings upon the new academic journey. The ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp was conducted by Rev. Fr. Saji Stephen, Rector; Rev. Fr. Shining Dkhar, Principal; Br. Sniawshngain, Vice Principal; Sir Ribanskhem; and a student representative, symbolizing the light of knowledge and wisdom.
Rev. Fr. Shining Dkhar, Principal, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of discipline, dedication, and skill development. Rev. Fr. Saji Stephen, Rector, delivered the keynote message, encouraging students to develop not only technical expertise but also responsibility and strong moral character. The Rules and Regulations were also explained to guide students throughout the course.
The MMV and Carpentry Departments enriched the programme with inspiring songs, adding vibrancy to the occasion. The programme was efficiently compered by Miss Naphi.
The programme concluded with The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Br. Sniawshngain Papang, Vice Principal, and ended on a positive and hopeful note, marking a promising beginning for the FVT students as they embark on their vocational training journey.
