JAAGO 2025 IGNITES RENEWED MISSION AND HOPE AMONG SALESIAN BROTHERS OF SHILLONG PROVINCE
Shillong,31st December 2025: Thirteen clerical brothers from the Salesian Province of St. John Paul II, Shillong, participated in Jaago 2025, a massive pilgrimage of faith held from December 28 to 31 at Christ Academy. The four-day “Generation of Hope” summit brought together nearly 12,000 young people, along with 20 Bishops and several Cardinals, making it one of the most significant youth faith gatherings of recent times.
A defining feature of Jaago 2025 was the nightly Eucharistic Adoration, which left a deep and lasting impact on participants. The profound silence of thousands of young people kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament created a powerful atmosphere of prayer and reverence. For many, it was a “goosebumps” experience, offering a living testimony to the immeasurable love of God and the deep spiritual hunger present among today’s youth.
For the Salesian brothers, the event proved to be far more than a conference. It became a transformative spiritual encounter and a wake-up call, challenging them to move beyond the comfort of administrative routines. Witnessing the radiant joy, authenticity, and faith of the young prompted a sincere introspection on the Salesian mission itself: are we truly committed to “saving souls,” or are we merely engaged in superficial management?
The vibrant witness of the youth served as a reminder that young people are not searching for building managers or school administrators, but for holy, committed, and joyful religious who live the Gospel with conviction. Their faith rekindled the brothers’ understanding of their vocation and the urgent call to holiness.
As the Salesian delegates return to the Shillong Province, they do so with renewed zeal and clarity of purpose. Inspired by Jaago 2025, they carry a firm resolve to embrace personal and communal holiness, ensuring that their lives radiate the light of Christ to the young who are eagerly waiting to encounter Him.
