ITLR Celebrates Graduation of 30 Students at Sacred Heart Theological College Mawlai

Shillong 6th December: Sacred Heart Theological College marked a significant milestone as 30 participants of the Integrated Training for the Laity and Religious (ITLR) program completed their theological formation on campus. Twelve students graduated with a one-year Diploma in Theology, while eighteen concluded their one-semester course in a solemn valedictory program held on 5th December 2025 at the College premises.

The day began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr. Sunil Barla, SDB, Rector of Sacred Heart Theological College (SHTC). In his homily, he highlighted the deeper purpose of theological education—shaping both the mind and the heart—and encouraged the students to become authentic messengers of God’s Word in their daily lives.

Following the Mass, the congregation gathered in the hall for the distribution of results and certificates. Fr. John Zoziama, SDB, Provincial, graced the ceremony as the chief guest. He congratulated the students for their dedication and reminded them that theology is not only an academic pursuit but also a lifelong journey of faith.

Confreres Fr. Denis, Fr. Arul, Fr. Timothy, and Fr. Pyndeilang were present for the occasion, adding to the sense of fraternity and support. Special recognition was given to Fr. Raphael Risterland Maïong, SDB, Director of ITLR, for his leadership and commitment in guiding the program throughout the year. He expressed gratitude to the faculty, collaborators, and students for their cooperation and enthusiasm.

The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal, during which the graduates shared their experiences of academic growth, spiritual renewal, and the strong community bonds formed during the program.

In his closing address, Fr. Raphael thanked all those who contributed to the success of the year’s program and encouraged the students to carry forward the values they learned. He affirmed that the ITLR continues to serve as a platform for deepening faith, enriching knowledge, and nurturing committed disciples for the Church.

With the addition of this year’s graduates, the ITLR program looks ahead with renewed vigour, ready to welcome new participants seeking formation rooted in faith, understanding, and service.
