Shillong, 5th March 2026: Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS), Shillong successfully organized two significant events simultaneously on 5th March 2026: the Certification Day of MSSDS (Meghalaya State Skill Development Society) and a large-scale Placement Drive for trainees who recently completed their skill training programmes. The events were held on the campus of DBTS and witnessed enthusiastic participation from trainees, faculty members, industry representatives, and distinguished guests.
The Certification Day ceremony celebrated the successful completion of skill training by trainees from 18 different trades, conducted in collaboration with MSSDS. The programme was graced by Ms. Chingba Marak, Assistant Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong, who attended as the Chief Guest. Representatives from MSSDS, along with Fr. Sagi, the Principal, Vice Principal, instructors, and staff members of the institution were also present for the occasion. The ceremony acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the trainees who completed courses in various skill sectors such as electrical, automotive, hospitality, design, cosmetology, welding, and other vocational fields.
During the programme, certificates were distributed to the successful trainees, marking an important milestone in their professional journey. The event highlighted the strong partnership between DBTS Shillong and MSSDS in promoting skill-based education and empowering youth with industry-relevant competencies.
Following the certification ceremony, the institution conducted a Placement Drive, providing a valuable opportunity for the graduates to connect with potential employers. More than 15 companies and organizations participated in the recruitment process, including firms from within Meghalaya, other states of India, and even international organizations. Representatives from these companies interacted with trainees, reviewed their profiles, and conducted preliminary interviews to identify suitable candidates for employment.
The placement drive created a dynamic platform where trainees could showcase the practical skills and professional competencies, they acquired during their training at DBTS. It also reflected the growing reputation of the institution as a centre that prepares skilled and industry-ready professionals.
The simultaneous organization of the Certification Day and Placement Drive demonstrated the commitment of Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong to not only provide quality vocational education but also ensure employment opportunities and career pathways for its trainees. The event concluded successfully with positive responses from both the participating companies and the newly certified trainees, reinforcing DBTS’s mission of empowering youth through skill development and employment-oriented training in the spirit of Don Bosco.
