CATHOLIC ANIMATION FOR LEADERSHIP LEARNING (CALL)

Shillong 16th February 2026: St. Anthony’s College, Shillong, initiated a year-long programme for the Catholic Students of the college, named C.A.L.L. (Catholic Animation for Leadership Learning). CALL is an initiative conceived and realized by Fr. (Dr.) K J Antony SDB, that will focus on ongoing “Learning.” Besides Leadership training and skills, it will aim at learning the content of our Faith, Catholic spirituality and personality development. The sessions will also include time for spiritual recollections, retreats, animations, etc., at the college extension centre in Siloam.

The sessions will be held as a weekly event on Saturdays from 6.00 pm to 6.50 pm primarily for the Catholic students in the college hostels. The programme will be a three-year programme that every Catholic Student of the hostel will attend, and is also open to other students who are interested. In addition to the academic formation that is main in our institution, CALL provides an added opportunity to be trained as Catholic leaders for the families, community and the Church.

The motto of CALL is:  To Know Him, to Love Him and to Serve Him in this world and to be happy with Him forever.  Key focus areas of CALL are Spiritual and Personal growth, Relational and Organizational Skills, and Mission and Identity.

The official inauguration of the programme was held at the college on 14th February, 2026. It was presided over by His Grace Victor Lyngdoh, Archbishop of Shillong, who also blessed us and celebrated the Inaugural Mass. The programme was attended by all the Salesian Staff, Sisters of the Mamma Margaret Hostel, the Vicar General of the VSDB sisters, Rev. Sr. Cecilia Sad, VSDB and her assistant and all the hostellers, including the non-Catholic students, both from the Stephen Hall and Mamma Margaret Hall.
