Umden, 1st November 2026: The Parish Day Celebration of Umden Parish was celebrated with great joy and devotion on 1st November 2026. The theme of the celebration was “I pray that you will be united,” taken from the Gospel of John (Jn 17:21).
The day began with the Holy Eucharistic Celebration. The homily was delivered by Fr. Michael Khongngaiñ. In his homily, he spoke about the theme and stressed the importance of unity, love and brotherhood among the faithful as one parish family, just as Jesus prayed that His disciples might be one.
The programme was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including Shri Rona Khymdeit, Local MDC; Dr. Donkupar Francis Marbaniang, who holds a doctorate in Civil Engineering; and Dr. Audreyna Syngkli, who holds a doctorate in Education and is a lecturer at Ri-Bhoi College. They shared words of encouragement and appreciated the unity and faith of the parishioners.
In the afternoon, after the fellowship meal, Adoration was held at 1:30 p.m. and was animated by Fr. Thomas Marak. It was a moment of deep prayer and thanksgiving as the parish marked the 20th anniversary of its establishment. As Umden Parish looks forward to celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 2031 and its Centenary in the coming year, let us keep the parish in our prayers as it prepares for these important occasions.
After the Adoration, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the different villages of the parish. The faithful from various villages showcased their talents and rich cultural heritage through traditional dances, mass drills by different schools, songs and skits. These performances strengthened the spirit of unity among the parishioners.
Finally, the programme concluded with a prayer of thanksgiving. All the parishioners returned home happily, carrying with them the message and spirit of unity.
