Shillong 31st October 2026: With great joy and gratitude to God, the management of Don Bosco School, Lawngtlai held the solemn ceremony of Blessing and Laying of the Foundation for the New School Building at the new school campus on 29th October 2026.The programme began at 1.30 pm in the Church. The students of Classes 8 to 12 together with the teaching faculty and Salesian community gathered for a moment of prayer. Considerable time was spent in prayer and singing hymns, invoking God's blessings upon the new venture and thanking Him for His providence that has sustained the mission at Lawngtlai. After the prayer service in the Church, the students and staff in procession proceeded to the construction site, where the site was prepared for the laying of the foundation.
The ceremony began with a hymn to Don Bosco. Rev. Fr. Nelson Joseph SDB, the Rector and Principal of Don Bosco School, Lawngtlai, presided over the ceremony. The Bible Passage was read by Fr.Synshar and Annie of class XI. In his brief message, Fr. Rector highlighted that the new building will be a temple of learning to build the future of the youth of Lawngtlai, especially the poorest of the poor, in the spirit of Don Bosco. He shared the future plans and facilities that will be set up in the new campus. He then blessed the site with holy water and laid the foundation by dropping the mortar as a sign of beginning the construction in faith.It was followed by Rev. Fr. Synshar SDB, the Vice Principal, the Sisters, Teachers, Class Monitors, Assistant Monitors and Church Leaders who also laid the mortar and prayed for the successful completion of the project.
The ceremony concluded with a final prayer and blessing to all the benefactors, engineers, workers and well-wishers. The entire gathering was filled with hope and enthusiasm for the growth of Don Bosco Mission in Lawngtlai. We thank all who have contributed to make this dream a reality.
