DBTS SHILLONG HOLDS CONVOCATION CEREMONY 2026

Shillong, 3 October 2026: Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, held its Convocation Ceremony and Farewell 2026 on 3 October, celebrating the achievements and successful completion of training by its outgoing students.

The ceremony, held at the basketball court of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, brought together distinguished guests, Salesian confreres, staff, parents and students.

The graduating batch included 214 ITI students from the trades of Electrician, Wireman, Motor Vehicle Mechanic (MMV), Welder, Wood Work, DTP, Stenography and Sewing Technology. In addition, around 70 students successfully completed the TATA LEAP programmes in MMV LEAP, Carpentry LEAP and Electrician LEAP, while approximately 90 students passed out from the six-month and one-year courses under the FVT programmes. Together, these graduates marked a significant milestone in their technical and vocational education at DBTS.

The programme included Bible Reading and Prayer, the welcome and felicitation of dignitaries, vibrant cultural performances, and addresses by the dignitaries. A special highlight was the Award Ceremony, where Toppers from all the trades under ITI, FVT and LEAP were felicitated for their outstanding performance. Students who achieved 100% attendance throughout their training were also recognised and awarded for their exemplary commitment and discipline. The programme culminated in the Convocation Ceremony, marking the successful completion of training and an important milestone in the students’ journey towards their future careers.

The event was graced by Shri Sanbor Shullai, Hon’ble MLA and Cabinet Minister, Government of Meghalaya, as Chief Guest; Shri Hunlang Massar, Inspector of Training, Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training, Meghalaya, as Guest of Honour; and Rev. Fr. John Zosiama SDB, Provincial of the Shillong Province.

The ceremony also featured the presence of Rev. Fr. Sagi Stephen SDB, Rector and Director, and Rev. Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar SDB, Principal, along with members of the DBTS community.

Students from various departments showcased their talents through prayer dance, Khasi and English songs, fusion cultural dance and Bollywood dance. The award and convocation ceremonies marked the central highlights of the celebration.

Before the conclusion of the programme, Jophetstar Wahlang, the topper among all the outgoing students, delivered the Valedictory Speech on behalf of the student community. In his address, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Don Bosco Technical School, the management and the teachers for their guidance, support and formation. He also shared his experiences and reflections from his two years at DBTS, highlighting the memories, learning and growth he experienced during his time at the institution.

This was followed by a song performance by the outgoing students, adding a warm and memorable touch to the farewell celebration. The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Vice Principal, Br. Sniawshngain Papang.

The event concluded with a photo session, leaving the graduating students with memories of their time at DBTS and encouragement as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

The Convocation 2026 was a celebration not simply of certificates, but of skills acquired, values formed, challenges overcome and futures waiting to be built.
