3rd October 2026: On 3rd October 2026, Lum Sinai Umden Parish organized a one-day Pre-Vocation Camp for boys and girls studying in Class Seven and other interested young participants. The camp was organized as a preparation for the General Vocation Camp to be held from 19th to 21st October at Mawlai Parish. The programme began at 9:00 a.m. and concluded at 3:00 p.m. Around 45 boys and girls from different villages of the parish participated actively in the camp. The main resource person for the day was Rev. Fr. Ritonbor Kharkongor, who guided the young participants through his inspiring words and personal experience.
Fr. Ritonbor spoke about the meaning of vocation, discernment, and God’s call to serve the Church as priests, sisters, and religious. He encouraged the participants to listen to God’s voice, develop a life of prayer, and make good choices for their future. The camp included prayer sessions, talks, and interactive sharing. These activities helped the young participants to reflect more deeply on their vocation and understand the importance of being open to God’s call.
After lunch, the session was taken by Rev. Fr. Michael Khongngaiñ, the Parish Priest. He spoke about the importance of religious life in the Salesian Congregation, whose mission is to bring people closer to God, particularly young people who are separated from their families and the Church. He also reflected on the call of God to different prophets in the Old and New Testaments. Furthermore, he shared about the lives of the Saints and reminded the participants of their responsibilities as children in their families and as members of the Church.
The Pre-Vocation Camp was a meaningful and enriching experience for all the participants. It gave the young boys and girls an opportunity to learn about vocation, prayer, discernment, religious life, and their responsibilities in the family and Church. The programme concluded with a meaningful prayer and blessing given by the Parish Priest.
