Shillong 22 August 2026: The Graduation Day celebration at Don Bosco College, Byndihati, was held with solemnity and grandeur on 21 August 2026, marking a monumental milestone for over 84 graduating students. The academic event brought together proud parents, distinguished guests, priests and religious, and invited students from neighbouring schools to honour the achievements of the passing batch. The ceremony commenced on a reverent note with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Formally opening the proceedings, the Principal of the college, Fr. (Dr.) Daniel Dabitlang M Cajee, delivered the welcome address, expressing deep appreciation to all attendees and officially declaring the Graduation Day open.
Shri James PK Sangma, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he warmly congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to remain resolute in the pursuit of their dreams. Stressing that persistent hard work is the cornerstone of long-term success, Shri Sangma urged the students to embrace challenges with determination before personally presenting them with their degree certificates.
The ceremony was further elevated by the presence of prominent figures who attended as Guests of Honour, including Prof. Ghanashyam Bez, Director of the College Development Council at NEHU, Shri Manish Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, and Shri Shailendra Bamaniya, IPS, Superintendent of Police for East Jaintia Hills District. Fr. Jeevan Kishore Lakra, Vice Provincial of the Salesian Province of Shillong, attended as the Special Guest, alongside several priests and religious members from surrounding communities.
Adding cultural vibrancy to the academic gathering, the program featured captivating performances including a prayer dance and traditional folk dances by the students. The memorable celebration culminated on a melodious note with an inspiring choral performance presented by the Don Bosco College Choir.
