DBTS Shillong Celebrates Environment Month 2026 with Cleaning Drive and Best Out of Waste Competition

Shillong, 27th June 2026: As part of the Environment Month Celebration 2026, Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS), Shillong, organized a Cleaning Drive along with a Best Out of Waste Competition and Exhibition on 27 June 2026. The programme aimed to instil environmental responsibility, promote cleanliness, and encourage students to practice the principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle through creativity and teamwork.

The day commenced with a campus-wide cleaning drive involving all students and staff. While 10 groups of students enthusiastically participated in the Best Out of Waste Competition, the remaining students were engaged in cleaning their respective departments, classrooms, workshops, hostel surroundings, the school campus, and the roads adjoining the institution. The activity reflected the commitment of the Don Bosco family towards maintaining a clean, healthy, and eco-friendly environment while fostering a sense of civic responsibility among the students.

The highlight of the day was the Best Out of Waste Competition and Exhibition, where ten student groups, representing various departments, showcased innovative and useful items created entirely from discarded and recyclable materials. The exhibits demonstrated remarkable creativity, technical skills, and environmental awareness, proving that waste materials can be transformed into valuable and attractive products.

After careful evaluation by the panel of judges based on originality, utility, presentation, and effective use of waste materials, the Carpentry Department emerged as the Champion of the competition. Their outstanding creativity and craftsmanship impressed both the judges and visitors. All participating teams were appreciated for their innovative ideas and dedicated efforts in promoting sustainable living through their exhibits.

The programme concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation and responsible waste management. Through both the cleaning drive and the exhibition, students gained practical experience in teamwork, community service, and sustainable practices. The event served as a meaningful reminder that every individual has a vital role in protecting the environment and creating a cleaner, greener future.
