Shillong, 25th February 2026: Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS), Shillong, has once again brought laurels to the institution by delivering an outstanding performance at the 8th National Auto Tech Fest – “MECH XCEL 2K26”, held from 23rd to 25th February 2026 at Don Bosco ITI, Amman, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, in collaboration with TATA Motors & SKIP (Skills for Progress).
Four students—Meiaikyrsan Pde, Kiewshaphrang Rani, John Wanpli Ryntathiang, and Bannangshan Khongjee—participated in the prestigious national-level competition under the guidance of Instructor Mr. Eleazar Sumer. Together, they represented the institution with exceptional skill, discipline, and technical competence.
The event witnessed participation from premier technical institutions across India, making the competition highly competitive and professionally demanding. Demonstrating remarkable technical excellence, precision, analytical ability, and teamwork, the DBTS contingent emerged among the top performers at the national platform.
Major Achievements
At the 8th National Auto Tech Fest – MECH XCEL 2K26, DBTS Shillong achieved remarkable success across multiple competitive events. Mr. Eleazar Sumer secured First Place in the Gradient Grip (C.G.G.) Competition, demonstrating exceptional diagnostic expertise and technical mastery. In the Rapid Reset Competition, Mr. Bannangshan Khongjee and Mr. Kiewshaphrang Rani earned Second Place with outstanding speed, accuracy, and troubleshooting competence. Additionally, in the Fault-Finding Competition, Mr. Kiewshaphrang Rani and Mr. Meiaikyrsan Pde secured Third Place, reflecting strong analytical ability and systematic problem-solving skills.
The winners were honoured with trophies and Certificates of Merit in the presence of distinguished industry and institutional leaders, including representatives from Tata Motors and Skills for Progress. The achievements of DBTS Shillong at the national platform highlight the institution’s strong technical foundation in automobile engineering, supported by rigorous practical training and an industry-aligned curriculum. The students’ performance reflected discipline, teamwork, professional confidence, and effective mentorship. Competing at this level enhanced their exposure to industry standards and innovation trends, while reaffirming the school’s commitment to excellence in vocational training and holistic formation in the spirit of Don Bosco. The success at MECH XCEL 2K26 further strengthens DBTS Shillong’s reputation as a centre of excellence dedicated to preparing competent and industry-ready professionals.
