Shillong, 19th January 2026: Rev. Deacon Sagar Bandhu Molsom, SDB, stands as a testimony to a life steadily shaped by faith, dedication, and the Salesian spirit of service to the young. Born on 10 June 1990 in Monithang Village, Gomati District, Udaipur, Tripura, he is the son of Mr. Madhu Gopal Molsom and Mrs. Palatsom Molsom. Growing up in a close-knit family of five siblings, his early years were deeply influenced by values of simplicity, hard work, and strong Christian faith.
Deacon Sagar Bandhu began his schooling at Monithang Bengali Medium JB School and later completed his matriculation in 2011 from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat. A significant milestone in his spiritual life came on 15 August 2006, when he received the Sacrament of Baptism, marking the beginning of his conscious journey of faith.
The call to religious life began to take shape in 2008 through prayer and discernment. In 2009, he received the Sacrament of Confirmation from Most Rev. Lumen Monteiro, CSC, DD, Bishop of Agartala Diocese, strengthening his commitment to Christ and the Church. His participation in a religious vocation camp in Shillong in 2011 proved decisive, opening the path to Salesian formation.
His formal Salesian journey began at Bosco Mount, Tura, Meghalaya, where he completed his aspirantate (Classes XI and XII). He then underwent Prenovitiate formation at Mariam Nagar, Tripura (2013–2014), followed by the Novitiate at Sunnyside, Shillong (2014–2015). This period culminated in his First Religious Profession in 2015, officially marking his entry into the Salesian Congregation of Don Bosco.
To further equip himself for ministry, Deacon Sagar Bandhu pursued Philosophical Studies at Salesian College, Dimapur, Nagaland, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. His practical training years were spent at Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong (2018–2019), and Don Bosco School, Lawngtlai, Mizoram (2019–2020), where he worked closely with young people in educational and pastoral settings.
With a growing desire to serve more effectively in education, he completed a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from the College of Teacher Education (PGT), Shillong, between 2020 and 2022. In the same year, after joyful and prayerful discernment, he made his Final Profession at Nonglakhiat, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya, committing himself permanently to the Salesian way of life.
Since 2022, Rev. Deacon Sagar Bandhu Molsom has been pursuing Theological Studies at Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, Shillong, as part of his preparation for priestly ministry.
Reflecting on his journey, Deacon Sagar Bandhu expresses deep gratitude to God for constant guidance, to his family for their unwavering support, and to the Salesian community for nurturing his vocation in the spirit of St. John Bosco. With humility and joy, he continues to offer his life in service to God and His people, especially the young, striving to lead them toward Christ through faith, hope, and joyful service.
