Pathaliaghat 17th January 2026: As part of the Annual Sports Activities, St. Xavier’s School, Pathaliaghat successfully organized a School Marathon Race on 17th January 2026. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 700 students of Classes III to XII, making it a vibrant and energetic beginning to the day.
The marathon commenced promptly at 6:30 a.m. and was flagged off by the Principal, Fr. Babu Stephen, who encouraged the students to participate with sportsmanship, discipline, and determination. The race was organized in three categories – Seniors, Inters, and Juniors, separately for boys and girls, ensuring fair competition across age groups. The students participated proudly wearing their respective house jerseys, adding color and spirit to the event.
The marathon covered a challenging distance of approximately 6 kilometers, including both uphill and downhill routes. To ensure transparency and avoid any malpractices, participants were issued three different colored coupons at designated points along the route. Teachers were assigned various responsibilities and were strategically positioned at different locations to guide, supervise, and support the students throughout the race. Some teachers also moved along the route in vehicles to assist and pick up students who were unable to complete the race.
The smooth conduct of the marathon was made possible with the valuable support of parents and police personnel, who assisted in traffic regulation and ensured the safety of the participants along the road. Their cooperation greatly contributed to the success of the programme.
At the conclusion of the race, the first ten students from each category, both boys and girls, were identified as winners. Fr. Babu Stephen expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers for their active participation, coordination, and dedication. He also appreciated the students for their enthusiastic turnout and commendable effort.
As a gesture of care and encouragement, buns and tea were served to the students after the race, while teachers and police personnel were provided with a light breakfast. The marathon race was truly a wonderful and well-organized event, reflecting the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship that St. Xavier’s School strives to inculcate in its students.
