October 14, 2025, marks a significant milestone in the history of Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS). On this day, the first batch of trainees was officially inaugurated under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DBTS and the Directorate of Employment and Craftsmen Training (DECT), Government of Meghalaya. As per this collaboration, DBTS will conduct short-term vocational courses at a government facility—specifically, the Government ITI, Khliehtyrchi.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the ITI campus and was graced by Shri Steve Rynjah, a representative of DECT. Other distinguished attendees included Shri Robert Lyngdoh, Principal of Govt. ITI Khliehtyrchi; Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar, Principal of DBTS; Fr. Francesco Dhar, Director and Rector of Bosco Pnar; Miss Senovia Lathong, the project coordinator; and the instructors Sir Jespar Challam and Sir Lamlyntishwa Suchiang. Parents and guardians of the trainees were also present, adding to the significance of the occasion.

The program commenced at 1:00 PM and was hosted by Miss Senovia Lathong. Fr. Shiningstar Dkhar opened the ceremony with a prayer and extended a warm welcome to all. He addressed the trainees, outlining the rules and regulations of the program and highlighting the valuable opportunities these courses would provide.

In his address, Shri Robert Lyngdoh emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism among the trainees. Shri Steve Rynjah shared the government’s vision behind the initiative, stating that these short-term courses aim to equip youth with practical skills and empower them to become future job creators in Meghalaya. The courses inaugurated were: Basic Electrical and Automobile 4-wheeler. The event concluded at 1:45 PM, marking the beginning of a promising journey for the first batch of trainees under this impactful collaboration.
