Don Bosco Sports Academy – Shillong Province Triumphs at All India Don Bosco Inter Province U-17 Basketball Tournament
The Don Bosco Sports Academy of Shillong Province, represented by the SYM boys, proudly participated in the All India Don Bosco Inter-Province U-17 Basketball Tournament organized by the Salesian Provincial Conference of South Asia (SPCSA) and the DBYA – Sports Academy. The event was graciously hosted by the Province of Hyderabad at Don Bosco School of Excellence, Motinagar, Hyderabad, on the 10th and 11th of October, 2025.
The Shillong Province team, consisting of 12 talented players and two dedicated officials, left Shillong on 6th October and reached Hyderabad on the morning of 10th October. With determination and team spirit, they played three exciting matches against teams from Tiruchy, Chennai, and Hyderabad, winning all of them and advancing to the Final.
In the championship match, the Shillong Team (SYM) displayed outstanding skill, unity, and composure to defeat the Panjim/Goa Province (INP) with an impressive score of 43–33, thus being crowned the Champions of the Tournament.
This glorious victory reflects not only the hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship of our young athletes but also the dedication and guidance of their coaches and officials. The entire province joins in heartfelt congratulations to the team for bringing pride and joy to Don Bosco Sports Academy – Shillong Province.
The All India Don Bosco Inter-Province Tournament was organized with the noble aim of encouraging young participants to compete in a healthy spirit, to build friendship and brotherhood, and to instill a deep love for teamwork and fair play—values that lie at the heart of Don Bosco’s educational vision.
We also extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Host Province of Hyderabad for their warm hospitality and excellent arrangements, and to the SPCSA DBYA–Sports Academy for their vision and commitment in organizing such a meaningful and inspiring event for the youth.
We eagerly await the return of our champion team to Shillong on 16th October, where they will be warmly welcomed and celebrated for their remarkable achievement.
