Byndihati, 22nd March 2026: The campus of Don Bosco College, Byndihati, was transformed into a sanctuary of prayer and reflection from 20th March to 22nd March 2026, during its Annual Spiritual Retreat. Guided by the scriptural theme, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things” (Colossians 3:2), the event attracted 280 young people, from the college and the neighbouring villages, eager to deepen their faith. The retreat was animated by the dynamic leadership of Mr. Naveen Lobo from Mysore and the Jesus Youth team from Shillong, who together fostered an environment of high-energy worship and profound contemplation.
The journey began on 20th March with a solemn Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr. George S. Lyngkhoi. The first day’s itinerary established a spiritual rhythm that would continue throughout the weekend, featuring two intensive sessions alongside daily Adoration and Mass. These sessions were designed to help the youth detach from the distractions of the modern world and re-centre their lives on spiritual values. Each day, the participants were led through a series of talks that encouraged them to look beyond “earthly things” and seek a higher purpose.
On the second day, the focus shifted toward inner healing and spiritual cleansing. At 11:00 am, the participants gathered for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a pivotal moment of the retreat that allowed for personal reflection and forgiveness. This day was further graced by the presence of Most Rev. Ferdinand Dkhar, the Bishop of Jowai Diocese, who celebrated the Holy Mass. During his homily, the Bishop delivered a stirring message, inviting the 280 young participants to reject despair and instead serve as “agents of Hope” in a world that often feels divided.
The retreat concluded on 22nd March with a powerful message from the College Principal, Fr. Daniel Cajee. Celebrating the final Mass, Fr. Daniel reflected on the biblical account of the death of Lazarus, using it as a metaphor to discuss the “culture of death” prevalent in modern society. He urged the students to choose life and spiritual vitality over moral decay. The three-day event reached its spiritual climax on the final afternoon with a moving session of anointing and adoration, leaving the youth fortified and inspired to carry their renewed faith into their daily lives.
